Dress Watch: The Hottest Styles of the Season

Want a one-piece-and-you're-done outfit that encompasses fall's biggest trends? You're in luck. I browsed some of my go-to shops in search of the most standout pieces, looking for qualities like eye-catching prints, rich color, and flattering designs. After much debate, the results are these 12 beauties, a lineup I'll be updating each season to keep you looped into the dresses the deserve prime spots in your closet.

1. Lace is big for the fall, and this dress proves real women can look gorgeous in it. The appliqued side panels whittle your waist, no matter what your body type.
Ann Taylor, $248

2. Voluminous sleeves make this perfect for those thicker arms, and the kimono-like cut is just enough of a departure from your tried-and-true wrap.
Banana Republic, $109 (sale price!)

3. Florals aren't  just for warm temperatures anymore, and while this structured sheath is pricey, it's also seasonless--and perfect for weddings.
J.Crew, $398

4. Wear this slightly boho number with bare legs and sandals or ballet flats now, then with tights, flat riding boots, and a blazer come cooler weather.
Forever 21, $24.80 (STEAL)

5. The most wearable take on camo I've seen all season, this shirtdress works on tons of different body types. It reminds of me denim, and you can toss it right in the washing machine.
Gap, $ 64.95 (favorite!)

6. The only truly fitting way to describe this dress is cool. Easy to wear, and representative of the black-and-white trend, it's edgy, fun and reminds me of a trench coat, which is the most flattering shape of all time.
Calvin Klein, $140

7. This sweater dress is the prettiest (and sexiest) one I've seen in a long time. It has a feminine cut and shows just a hint of skin.
Simply Vera Vera Wang, Kohl's, $68

8. Pay homage to your collegiate days with this casual dress--and look good as you did then, too. Stripes on the bias are super-flattering.
Loft, $69.50 (LOVE)

9. Perfect for fall weekends, slip this sweatshirt dress on with ankle boots or moccasins for a look that's both trendy and oh-so-comfortable.
H & M, $29.95 (Deal)

10. Not in love with your arms? No problem. show off your legs instead with this silky three-quarter-sleeve.
Old Navy, $22.50 (sale price!)

11. If you buy one item this fall, it should be a faux leather dress--and you won't find a better option than this well-priced, waist-defining one.
The Limited, $108 (OBSESSED)

12. If all over jewels are too much for you, tone down the glitz with a pair of low-heel moto boots.
Zara, $139
